Two of our youngest in the adult classes just received their 3rd stripe on their white belts:

Tanner & Dante! Congrats. Nothing can hold these two back.

Philip also edged up to his 4th stripe!

Some of the over-18 crowd can also celebrate new stripes on their white belts:

Congrats to the latest batch of students to have earned their way to a new stripe!

Kids:
Josh Hood – the Junior Hood got his 3rd stripe white
Isaac Alvarez – the mohawked warrior got his 2nd stripe white
Emma Hinds – Saturdays’ leading lady got her 2nd stripe white

Adults:
Purple belt Tracy Leung cemented her status with her first stripe.
Blue belt Javier Gomez championed his second stripe.
White belts well on there way to some color:

Marcelo Martin Viera – 3rd

New Kids’ Classes
Wednesday @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm: All Ages kids’ class
Saturday: No more 9:00 AM kids class. 10:00-10:50 am Saturdays for Juniors’ only – ages 8-13

No Gi
No gi will no longer be on Wednesdays. Friday night No-gi @ 5:00 pm will continue as normal.

Pan Ams 2012 medals

Pan Ams 2012 has come and gone and it left behind some incredible memories. Extremely high level jiu-jitsu was seen every day of the four-day tournament. For Gracie San Diego’s part, we defeated many opponents, lost to some, gained focus, and will take both conquests and losses to improve the team. Congratulations to everyone who fought and thank you to all who made it out to support and cheer!

Michella Ameida continues to kick butt in 2012 with a gold medal in her blue belt division!!!

Perennial warrior Raszell Carpenter had an excellent performance took home a silver medal after quick finished of his first two opponents and a points loss in the final.

Pan Ams Schedule

Pam Ams is this weekend! The largest collection of Jiu-Jitsu competitors all year will be happening in Irvine, CA this Thursday – Sunday with many of our students taking part. The full schedule is available now. Generally competitors are given free entry to all but the last day of competition (the black belt finals are on Sunday) and non-competitors may pay a spectator fee of (generally) $15 a day to watch everything unfold. budovideos.com is streaming the event live this year if you don’t want to make the trip. We would like everyone who can make it to come out and cheer the team on in person. Make sure to get your academy t-shirts to wear so you can spot your teammates and they can spot you in the stands. Go Gracie Humaita!

Gracie San Diego will remain open on a normal schedule through the weekend so make sure you come improve yourself and so improve the whole team!

Razi Peek from our kids’ program is the proud owner of a new white and grey belt! With such a promising start at such a young age, this little man is set to take on big things. Razi shows so much heart and courage when he trains that it was the pleasure of Johnny and Regis to recognize his progress with his new belt color.

Matt Sauceda is keeping pace for the adult class with his promotion to blue belt! A great achievement, Matt is to be congratulated for his consistent efforts that are really starting to pay off.
